Delaware Valley School District is sending seven teams to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Michigan, May 21-27, to compete against more than 750 teams from 13 countries for the title of world champion. The students, who’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on skits, props, robots and structures, took a moment to thank the board for their support at the May 15 Delaware Valley School District board meeting.

Delaware Valley has earned a reputation as a powerhouse at the international creative problem-solving competition. The district racked up the wins at Pennsylvania State Finals this year, where all seven teams took home first place. And for the first time ever, the district swept two divisions at the state competition, placing first at the elementary, middle and high school level in both the technical and structure categories. Delaware Valley Elementary’s technical team also picked up the prestigious Omer’s Award, for teamwork and thinking on their feet when their “mech-animal” malfunctioned.

Dingman-Delaware Middle School is sending a team to Worlds; Delaware Valley Elementary, Middle and High School are each sending two. The students and their coaches boarded a bus to Michigan before dawn on Tues. May 20.
