First-graders see how apples turn to cider

MILFORD — First graders at Delaware Valley Elementary School had the opportunity to watch the process of making apple cider and sample fresh cider from the press.
Students in Mrs. Hiller, Ms. Crowley and Mrs. Ross’s classes learned about apples and the many things made from the delicious fruit. The DVES librarian, Mr. Mang, brought in a homemade hydraulic cider press and apples from his family’s orchards so that students could watch how apples are washed, chopped in the grinder, and pressed into pure apple cider.
Students from all classes and grades were able to visit and sample cider throughout the school day.
