Free Diabetes Self-Management Program

    A free Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) consisting of three classes total will be offered in Hamlin May 7, May 21 and May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Classes will be held at The Community Library of Lake and Salem Townships, 518 Easton Turnpike, Hamlin.

    This comprehensive program instructed by Wayne Memorial’s Certified Diabetes Educator Carol Kneier, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, covers medications, meal planning, glucose monitoring and exercise benefits.

    Classes, based on the National Standards of the American Diabetes Association, are ideal for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or pre-existing diabetes in need of tighter control.

    All classes are free and open to the public. Patients are encouraged to bring a support person. Pre-registration is required by calling 570-253-8149 or emailing kneier@wmh.org.

    The DSMP is presented with support from The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
