Free workshop on how to test and protect water
STROUDSBURG — Did you know that wells and springs provide a large percentage of the water supply used by residents of the Poconos? Many residents also rely on on-lot septic systems to treat and dispose of their wastewater.
A home water and septic system workshop conducted by the Penn State Cooperative Extension will provide information on how to protect, test, and treat private water supplies. Septic system inspection and maintenance will also be discussed. Learn how to protect your health, your property, and shared groundwater and surface water resources.
The workshop is available twice on Thursday, April 28 — from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. — at the Monroe County Extension office, 724 Phillips St., Suite 201, Stroudsburg.
These workshops are free but pre-registration is required. The first 30 registrants will receive a free copy of “A Guide to Private Water Systems in PA” at both the Stroudsburg and Hawley workshops. There will also be free drinking water testing for the first 60 registrants. Sample collection instructions will be provided at time of registration.
