— Catch the raindrops in style.
Some 200 students from ten schools in Pike, Wayne, Sullivan Counties, including students from Delaware Valley, have designed 22 super-looking rain barrels in the hope buyers will adopt them.
Households and businesses alike rely on the Upper Delaware for clean drinking water and outdoor recreation. The Every Drop Counts Rain Barrel Project is a way for youth better to understand their watershed and express what they love about water.
Bid on one of these water-conserving creations at one of two upcoming silent auctions:
Saturday, July 16, at the Audubon Art and Craft Festival on Route 6 in Hawley, Pa. Bidding is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, July 30, at the Callicoon Country Fair in Callicoon, N.Y. Bidding is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Barrels must be picked up by 5 p.m. Cash or check payment will be accepted.
Local businesses are supporting the effort. Follow Delaware Highlands Conservancy on Facebook for a link to the Google map to locate each barrel on display at a local business. Buyers can preview the selections and take home a flyer about the project. Barrels will be on display at the businesses until the week of each silent auction.
