DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — Dingman Township’s active parks department is planning two new events during the coming season, some replacing the old ones.
Many area residents may not know about the new park, and the township wants to encourage anyone who’s not yet visited there to come out and give it a try.
The park already has sports fields, a playground, a large unstructured play area, a concession stand/restroom facility, and jogging and walking trails, with other amenities planned. It’s located at 679 Log Tavern Road, just across from the Dingman Township Fire Hall.
One of the new events run by the Parks and Recreation Department is a spring festival in May to replace the annual Easter egg hunt. It was permanently canceled this year due to weather concerns, and because so many egg hunts take place in the area.
The "Spring in the Park" festival is tentatively set for May 14 in the township park, and will feature entertainment, games, and food. Details will be announced later.
Later, in June, the parks department will host another event in the park, this time a car show. "Cruise in the Park" will take place on June 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with music from noon to 5 p.m.
Bands will include Blind Men Driving, Mason Jar Rebellion, Runnin W’ Sizzorz Band, Lenny Miller, and Aragon.
Festival-goers can also vote for People’s Choice for Ford, Chevy, GMC, and Dodge.
