— An AllOne Foundation grant for $30,000 presented to Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers may be behind a spiked interest in breastfeeding classes.
After the grant for prenatal education tools was received, Wayne Memorial's Women’s Health Center reported increased interest and upped its classes from once every other month to monthly.
“This is exactly the kind of response we hoped our grants would fund,” said AllOne Foundation Executive Director John Cosgrove.
He said it met the foundation’s mission to have “a real and substantive impact on the health and welfare of the people of Northeastern and North Central Pennsylvania by improving access, affordability and quality of healthcare.”
Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers used the money for equipment for prenatal breastfeeding classes and a special scale to help assess milk transfer for babies who are not gaining weight appropriately.
The AllOne foundation serves 13 counties in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania. For more information, visit allonefoundations.org.
