EAST STROUDSBURG — To help support the safety of children while in licensed child care centers, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed legislation recently to require one unannounced inspection of the facilities each year, said state Rep. Rosemary Brown.

Currently, facilities are notified in advance when an inspection will occur, she said.

"Many other businesses licensed and regulated by the state are already subject to unannounced yearly inspections, and the same should hold true to further support day care inspections," said Brown.

The bill now moves to the state Senate for consideration.
