Local 'Wish' kid has a passion for old fashion

— Thirteen-year-old Olivia from Milford is an admirer of all things mod.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, Olivia sought for a thread of hope, which she found in her love for fashion. On behalf of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Olivia was granted her wish to have a new, vintage wardrobe like the styles worn in her favorite television show, "Astronaut’s Wives Club."

Joined by 20 of her closest friends and family, Olivia modeled her personally picked outfits at a fun fifties bash. She made her darling debut with a collection of 15 ensembles including dresses, shoes, boots, purses, a wool coat, and even a pink poodle skirt.

Wishes like Olivia’s cannot take shape without one crucial, first step: a wish referral. To find out more about referring a child aged 2 1/2 to 18 with a life-threatening medical condition, call regional manager Maggie O’Brien at 570-341-9474.

The most common misconception about Make-A-Wish is that it provides wishes only for dying children. To the contrary, Make-A-Wish fulfills wishes for children living with life-threatening medical conditions and believes that a wish experience fills its families with hope, strength and joy. The local chapter is one of the most active in the country, having fulfilled more than 16,000 wishes.
