Masks help people with brain injury communicate
MILFORD — The many masks created by the clients of Progressive Health of PA as part of the Unmasking Brain Injury Project will be on display from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at the Anthony Brooks Building, 200 East Harford St., Milford.
Progressive Health is a community-based neurorehabilitation program serving survivors of traumatic brain injury. Creating masks provided an alternate way for clients to express their feelings and show the many different ways brain injury has affected their lives.
The open house is part of the "Toast to Milford" event to be held throughout the borough that day (see page 14).
The Unmasking Brain Injury Project originated at Hinds’ Feet Farm with a mission to “promote awareness of the prevalence of brain injury; to give survivors a voice and the means to educate others of what it’s like to live with a brain injury; to show others that persons living with a disability due to their brain injury are like anyone else, deserving of dignity, respect, compassion and the opportunity to prove their value as citizens in their respective communities.
