— Kristopher Hanscom, 23, of Bushkill died Aug. 19, one day after getting shot in the face in the parking lot of the Silver Lake Tavern in Delaware Township, according to a report by the Pennsylvania State Police at Blooming Grove.

Police determined that Jared Masker, 31, of Milford shot Hanscom. They took Masker into custody in Branchville, N.J. and charged him with criminal attempt-murder, aggravated assault (2 counts), firearms not to be carried without a license, and possessing instruments of crime.

Patrick Scholl, one of several witnesses interviewed by police, told Trooper Jason Mills at the scene that he'd heard a commotion outside the bar, in the parking lot. When he went outside, he saw Hanscom in a confrontation with another patron.

Scholl said he went back inside to pay his tab. As he left the bar, he walked over to Hanscom. As he was talking to him, Masker walked over to the victim and told him he had 30 seconds to get off the property. Scholl then told police he saw Masker pull out a revolver and place it underneath Hanscom's jaw. Scholl said Hanscom asked Masker if he was going to start popping off. Scholl then saw Masker pull the trigger, shooting Hanscom in the face.

At that point Masker ran to his vehicle and fled the scene, Scholl told the police.

Police said they found several of Hanscom's teeth and "a large amount of blood" at the scene.

The county coroner's office determined the cause of death to be homicide from a gunshot wound to the head.
