New Tesla charging stations, and a talk about emerging auto technologies, at the Fauchere
MILFORD — For years, journalist and electric car expert John Voelcker John Voelcker has been urging the Hotel Fauchere in Milford to install a Tesla charging station.
The hotel took him up on his suggestion. The Hotel Fauchere now offers two Tesla charging stations for guests.
To note the occasion, Voelcker talk about emerging technologies in the automotive industry in a free talk at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, in the Fauchere Meeting Center, 401 Broad St., Milford. There is no admission charge. Voelcker is senior editor for High Gear Media and creates and oversees all editorial for GreenCarReports.com. He has covered advanced auto technologies and energy policy for various print, online, and radio outlets, including Wired, Popular Science, Tech Review, IEEE Spectrum, HybridCars.com, and Portfolio.com.
He is a regular guest on Fox Car Report Live, and provides occasional car commentary for National Public Radio shows and Sirius Satellite Radio. In 2011, he was elected to the board of directors of the International Motor Press Association. He is also part of the screening committee for World Green Car of the Year.
Voelcker has driven plug-in cars from more than a dozen automakers, and alt-fuel vehicles from almost as many.
He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and splits his time among the Catskill Mountains, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
"Between now and the end of my life, what we call an 'automobile' will change profoundly," Voelcker said. "I want to help explain those changes and get people thinking about what they mean."
