Parents: Naloxone saves lives

MILFORD — Hundreds of pharmacies throughout Pennsylvania now carry Naloxone, a lifesaving opioid reversal medication that brings heroin users “back to life” when they overdose.

And more users are now being saved as family members, co-workers, concerned friends and first responders increasingly carry the Naloxone kit.

"Come to meetings and join us to keep hope alive," said Debra Nason of Pike County Parents for Prevention. "Help is available. The support is here."

Clinician Luke Barbalich will provide training in using the antidote at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at Old Catholic Church Hall in Milford. Each participant will receive an overdose prevention rescue kit and learn how to use Naloxone.

Debra and Joe Nason are spearheading training in Port Jervis and welcome Milford area residents as well. Call Anne at 845-551-9703 to register and find out the next training date and time.

The next meeting of the Pike County Parents for Prevention will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, in the conference room at Milford Health and Wellness Building, 111 East Catharine St., Milford. All are welcome.
