Attorney Elizabeth Erickson Kameen, Pike County Bar Association president; Kelly Gaughan, trial attorney; and Elizabeth Burton, attorney, will present a Pike County Bar Association Wills for Heroes program on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Pike County Emergency Training Center in Lord's Valley. Appointments may be scheduled online at www.pabar.org/wfh by entering the password PikeWFH.
Created in response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, Wills for Heroes is a nonprofit organization that has prepared more than 55,000 estate planning documents for first responders in 28 states since November 2001. Thousands of first responders risked their lives to save fellow Americans, and more than 400 firefighters and police officers made the ultimate sacrifice, many without estate plans. Through Wills for Heroes, volunteer lawyers provide free estate planning, including free wills, living wills and healthcare and financial powers of attorney to first responders and their spouses or domestic partners. First responders and veterans along with their significant other, are eligible to receive "Wills, Powers of Attorney and Living Wills" prepared at no charge and leave with prepared, signed, witnessed, and notarized documents all at once.
