'Pippin' brings Charlemagne's court to the DV stage

MILFORD — “Join us, come and waste an hour or two!”
So go the lyrics of “Magic to Do” from the award-winning musical “Pippin," to be put on by the Delaware Valley High School Drama Club this weekend.
Pippin is a pip of a Broadway musical that is not only a contemporary classic but also the play that made director-choreographer Bob Fosse a famous name long before "Cabaret," and composer Stephen Schwartz a Broadway legend long before his currently running hit “Wicked."
The musical is inspired by the medieval legend of Charlemagne's son, Pippin, heir apparent to the Holy Roman Empire. It's a parable about a young man's search for meaning and truth, to discover whether there really is "something worthwhile I can do with my life."
The DV production features Adam Tidridge as Pippin, Mikaela Edelman as the Leading Player, Alex Miller as Charlemagne, Natalie Rosen as Fastrada, Cait Zuckerman as Catherine, Kendall Baird as Berthe, Jeremy Block as Lewis, and DV middle school student Maksymilian Kedzior as Theo.
Rounding out the cast are Rachel Beals, Jason Block, Hannah Carlson, Joey Centanni, Julia Cuevas, Ben Cunningham, Briana DeSouza, Sam Evers, Lexi Fean, Shannon Ferguson, Britney Forichon, Dustin Fouse, Curtis Jaeger, Kristin Jones, Brianna Kislak, Justin Knoepfel, Megan Krause, Alexa Lissie, Alyssa Mancuso, Brandon Morley, Martha Morton, Aspen Navarte, Justin Pranga, Elise Sasse, Molly Scollo, Josh Shepard, Jessica Sudano, Kris Tjornham, David Torres, Ashley Vecchio, and Olivia Woolsey.
Veteran director Kim Golden has assembled a team of professionals to put the show together, including assistant director Caroline Lehman, choreographer Melissa Thomas, orchestra director Lance Rauh, vocal director Sandy Stalter, set designer Laura Walsh, set construction by Will Tidridge, tech director Kevin Riker, sound engineer Jeff Morton, acting coaches Marc Valentine and Beth Kelley.
