MIDDLETOWN — It took Mary Morgan 75 years, but she finally won something. And not just anything — $10,000.
Morgan, formally of Middletown and now living in Port Jervis, entered into Nissan's national campaign promotion "Nissan Now." Customers were asked to sign up online for a chance to win $10,000. Only two winners were chosen across the country.
"I entered online and thought 'Yea right,'" Morgan said of her chances of winning.
Too good to be trueWhen Morgan was chosen as one of the lucky winners, she didn't believe it.
"I was very shocked," Morgan said. "I actually hung up on the lady the first time she called because I thought it was a scam."
Even waiting in the Nissan of Middletown's dealership for her check, Morgan still couldn't believe she had actually won.
Morgan, has eight children, 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She worked at the Department of Corrections for 20 years before retiring in 2002 and says she has plans for the prize money.
"I am going to put the money in the bank and update my Nissan," Morgan said.
Morgan currently drives a 2006 Nissan Sentra.
