Rally for Second Amendment at Pike Courthouse

— The Family Firearms Association is holding a rally to defend gun rights from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the Pike County Courthouse in Milford.
Titled “Justice and Freedom for All: God–given Rights of the Second Amendment,” the rally is being held "in support of local residents — minorities in particular — who have been ridiculed in the media as a result of their choice to defend the Second Amendment," according to a press release from organizer Lesa Ellanson.
She said the organization was founded in 2008 as an unaffiliated assembly of community members from the tristate area.
"Family Firearms Association was created and exists to dispel ignorance about firearms so to promote their proper use for sport, enjoyment, defense, and other ethical uses," says Ellason. "Our mission is to introduce guns, gun sports, firearms safety, and self-defense to the family, especially to women, children, and minorities. We focus on the benefits and empowerment of gun ownership by offering safety education, shooting proficiency, and marksmanship opportunities that the entire family can experience."
The rally will be held rain or shine.
Ellanson is also a member of the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church, which in February held a mass blessing of couples armed with assault rifles and a pro-gun "President Trump Thank You Dinner" that attracted national notice.
The Pike County Courthouse was the scene of a vigil in February to mourn the mass shooting victims in Parkland, Florida, and to join the survivors in calling for an assault rifles ban.
