Roebling Bridge to close for four consecutive days
LACKAWAXEN — Unexpected delays to maintenance work on the Roebling Bridge will require closing the roadway for four consecutive days at some point between Monday, Oct. 31, and Thursday, Nov. 17.
The National Park Service says it needs a stretch of warm and dry days to properly seal the concrete bridge deck on the National Historic Landmark. The roadway will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on each of the four days.
"The specific dates of the four-day closure are not now known," says the park service, which says it will be looking at weather forecasts.
Repairs will also include expansion joint replacement.
Walkways will remain open at all times for pedestrian use. Vehicles will be allowed to cross the structure on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The parking lot on the New York side will be closed throughout the construction period.
Information about road closures and detour routes associated with the project can also be found at nps.gov/upde/planyourvisit.htm.
