In December 2023, the Rotary District 7410 Essay Contest was opened to all high school juniors and seniors. According to a Club spokesperson, the goal of the contest is to “gain visibility for the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club and to foster student creativity and a positive outlook.”

This year’s theme was “Create Hope in the World - How can communities, schools, families and/or friends support mental health with caring, giving and compassion?”

Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club received 23 essays from Delaware Valley High School for review. They chose three top winners; the number one winning essay will move on to District finals. Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club presented each of the three top winners with a cash prize. Peyton LaRocco won third place and $100, Ava Kraszewski won second place and $200, and Marissa Gates won first place and $300.

“Our club was very proud of all students that participated in the essay contest, they all did an outstanding job,” said a Rotary spokesperson.
