Safe Haven and chamber team up for networking event

MILFORD — The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is holding a networking event with Safe Haven of Pike County at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Safe Haven's location, 402 Broad St., Milford.
Bring a non-perishable food item. Every chamber function now includes a food drive that, in conjunction with the United Way of Pike County, will help all local pantries.
Safe Haven's mission is "to eradicate domestic violence, sexual assault, and other serious crimes through prevention, empowerment, and the promotion of social justice." In addition to offering regular counseling, the nonprofit partners with the district attorney and the county as host of the Children's Advocacy Center. Children and their caretakers can settle comfortably into one location for help, with Safe Haven offering a range of services under one roof.
"What could be traumatic is much less now that children do not have to travel all the way to Scranton Children's advocacy Center," says a statement from Safe Haven. "We look forward to all of the attendees seeing our center, and understanding more of what our advocates do for all residents of the county. We will offer our intern the opportunity to guide the short tours, and we will invite some of our partners who provide counseling services to our clients and staff, that may be interesting to attendees as well to chat with. Partnerships are so key here in the county for the best services and advancement into the future for clients."
Chamber members are welcome to bring friends and business associates along with plenty of business cards to the networking event.
Admission at the door is free for chamber members or $10 for non-members. There will be complimentary appetizers, refreshments, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. To donate a door prize (something from your business, or with contact information), call ahead.
