Santa arrives, the tree lights up, and all is well in Milford

MILFORD — The annual Milford tree lighting had all the essential elements needed to get the season off to a festive start: Santa and a helper distributing candies, a chorus singing carols, cookies galore, and hot chocolate to chase away the chill.
More than 200 people gathered last Saturday night well in advance of the countdown, at 5:15, when the tree was set alight amid the deepening darkness. Santa arrived in a fire truck with a festive bike escort.
Milford Mayor Sean Strub spread good cheer, passing around trays of cookies.
Milford Presents Amy Eisenburg of Milford Craft Show and Adriane Wendell of the Harrington House organized the event with help from Katrina Foster and Caity Vill of Lacquer Nail Bar, who thanked the community for a successful event.

The businesses of Milford and area volunteers for baking and serving refreshments, including Silverstar Jewelry, Key Foods, Harrington House, Ambience, Fretta's,The Craft Show and The Patisserie.
Among the volunteers were "Sonia and her two daughters," Claudia and David Copus, and Liz Steen and Jerry Weinstock.
A special thank you was reserved for the Milford Lions Club, whose members have taken care of the lights on Milford's trees for the past 60 years.
