'Snapshots of a Soldier' at Columns Museum

MILFORD — The Columns Museum, home of the Pike County Historical Society, has a few new exhibits installed for the fall season.
The official opening of a black and white photography exhibit featuring the work of John Hudanish titled "Vietnam Remembered: Snapshots of a Soldier." Hudanish served two tours in Saigon during the Vietnam War and found solace in photographing what he refers to as "his Vietnam." He will be on hand for the opening, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. in the Main Floor Gallery at the Columns Museum, to tell his tale and discuss his work. Light refreshments will be provided.
Also on exhibit, in the Lincoln Room, are four dioramas created by military historian James H. Hillestad. The works depict with astounding detail four large American Civil War battles. The dioramas come to the Columns on the heels of a very successful showing in the Pennsylvania State Capitol in downtown Harrisburg and a four year stint in the National Civil War Museum, also in Harrisburg. They will be on display at The Columns through the new year.
On Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, the museum will offer free admission to veterans, who are invited to attend the opening of "Vietnam Remembered."
"The museum also has a steel girder from the World Trade Center and a new exhibit pertaining to 9/11 on display, lest we forget the tragedy that took place not so long ago," said a press release from the museum. "The museum's staff and board humbly thank all veterans of war for their service."
