— Things were really heating up in Leslie Sikora's Foods A class at Delaware Valley High School.
Students competed in the school's first-ever macaroni and cheese competition. Within their kitchen groups, students created their take on the best macaroni and cheese dish possible.
The recipes varied in type of cheese, topping, sauce consistency, and preparation technique. A panel of judges — Brian Blaum, principal; Lou DeLauro, 11/12 assistant principal; Kevin Devizia, teacher; Chelsea Shatt, teacher; and Raycharlyn Krasulski, teacher — critiqued the recipes on overall appeal, appearance, sauce consistency, and execution.
But only one recipe nabbed the coveted trophy: Fried Macaroni and Cheese Balls, created by Isaiah Guest, Isaiah Davis, Jordan Hughes, Shannon DeVuyst, and Jackie Urmston.
