Students to test their bridge-building skills

SCRANTON — Delaware Valley High School students this year will join the 28th annual Northeast Pennsylvania Regional Bridge Building Competition, to be held Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Viewmont Mall in Scranton.

The program is designed to encourage youth to pursue careers in science, mathematics, engineering and technology. Its co-directors are Donald H. Kieffer and Paul J. Schneider.

Bridges will be checked for their adherence to the contest's criteria until approximately 10 a.m. Judges will then test all bridges to the point of failure.

Other participating schools are Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West, Scranton High School, Carbondale High School, North Pocono High School, Wilkes-Barre CTC, Wyoming Valley West High School, Valley View High School, Honesdale High School, Hanover area High School, North Rom Christian School, Benton High School, Abington Heights High School, and Dallas High School.
