'Taking Our Shot' 5K to benefit juvenile diabetes research

DINGMANS FERRY — The Lordi family will be hosting the sixth annual "Taking Our Shot at Inspiring Hope" 5K at Camp Speers YMCA, 143 Nichecronk Road, Dingmans Ferry on Saturday, May 19. All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Chris and Leslie Lordi’s daughter Josephine was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on Oct. 19, 2012. Now in its sixth year, "Taking Our Shot" has raised more than $60,000 through its partnership with Camp Speers YMCA, JDRF, Ray 'n Charles Diner, and Wal-Mart. Last year, over $9,000 was raised for JDRF.
There will be awards for walkers and runners, a basket raffle, a kids’ fun run, refreshments and more.

The cost is $20 for pre-registered adults and $15 for pre-registered students under 18.
Registration on the day of the race is $25. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.
T-shirts will be offered to participants pre-registered by May 8 and by first come, first served on the day of the race.
The course The course is a trail course with challenges for all types of athletes and is chip-timed.
It is a scenic cross-country course at Nichecronk Lake.
