Pike County District Attorney submitted the following press release, with the message, "Pike County's teachers recognize that I have spent my professional career working to keep all our citizens safe, especially our children":

Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin today announced that he has been endorsed for re-election by Pike County's teachers – the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

In a letter to Tonkin, Kristen Cole, PSEA-PACE Director for the Northeast Region, stated, "It is my pleasure to inform you that PSEA-PACE is recommending your candidacy for district attorney in the May 19, 2015 Primary."

According to Cole, her organization represents 180,000 plus members who serve over 1.5 million school children

"I'm honored to have the support of Pike County's teachers and believe this endorsement speaks volumes when it comes to beating back the false, negative attacks of my opponent," Tonkin stated. "Pike County's teachers recognize that I have spent my professional career working to keep all our citizens safe, especially our children."

During his career, Tonkin has prosecuted child sex predators, child abusers, and drug dealers, all who threaten the safety and well-being of local children.

"I'm the father of two young sons and understand the desire of every parent and grandparent to keep our kids safe. That's why I have made prosecuting those who hurt our children a priority, and have worked with Safe Haven to strengthen our child abuse investigative team and take steps towards establishing a children’s advocacy center in Pike County." said Tonkin. "Our local teachers share that goal, examined my record, and provided me with their support."
