The Tri-State Pregnancy Center (TSPC) held an open house on Sunday, June 1 at its new location, 105 Wheatfield Drive, Milford, Pa.

Since 1991, the start of the center, volunteers, board members and the director have organized to provide the spiritual, emotional, social and physical needs of any expectant mother in crisis.

The center is a Christian-based life-affirming organization aiming to show Christ's love to mothers and fathers in need while providing a safe environment in which life is respected.

Through the generosity of churches, individuals and area merchants, the TSPC is able to provide confidential services and free material needs. Services that are available are: pregnancy tests, peer counseling, parenting programs, maternity and baby clothing, diapers, baby food, formula, moral support and the Earn While You Learn Program.

There is counseling for abortion awareness, abstinence, adoption and post-abortion. TSPC has a 24-hour helpline 800-712-4357. The staff at TSPC are available for pro-life presentations in the community.

TSPC links with the agencies in place that help women in crisis and provides referrals for services such as free ultrasounds, housing, medical needs and much more. The TSPC — a non-profit charity — is 100 percent funded through donors.

Volunteers sort, organize and distribute material needs and counsel expectant mothers and fathers.

"The women have had difficulties in their lives that they need to express and we provide the opportunity to be heard," Pat Dunn, counselor and director of client services said. "We bring Christ to them. We pray, laugh, and cry with them."

The TSPC has a volunteer Board of Directors: Chairman, Bob Crawford, Co-Chair Bob Cole, Pastor Tom Mortenson, Secretary, Maria Moffa, Treasurer, Alex Yost, Lisa Aragona, and Bernie Hengel. Maria Moffa is also a volunteer and has been appointed the Executive Director as of June 1.

Every year the TSPC holds a banquet fundraiser. This year the banquet is scheduled for Sept. 28 at the Best Western in Matamoras. The guest speaker will be radio host from "The Sound of Life" Tom Michaels Zahradnik.

TSPC is always in need of diapers, wipes, infant formula, infant clothing, and maternity clothing. For more information visit tristatepregnancycenter.org or call 570-491-5151.
