— Have you ever wondered why they put a Home Depot Store in Matamoras or a Weis Food Market in Lords Valley or a Taco Bell and Staples in Westfall?
Learn how to attract major retailers and other commercial activities at a Pike County Chamber of Commerce seminar and buffet breakfast to be held at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing in Westfall.
The speaker will be Michael Sullivan, executive director of Pike County Economic Development Authority.
The discussion will focus on the following requirements of most retailers:
Examples of retail requirements
Circular Area Profile, which provides up-to-the-minute demographics
Average Auto Daily Traffic (AADT) studies
Possible Claritas “Prizm” descriptions like “Shotguns and Pickups” or “Blue Blood Estates”
Siting considerations (location, sewer, zoning)
Accessing the companies (directly to the franchisor or to franchise owner nearby who owns the territory: franchise owners in Middletown often includes eastern Pike TGIF, Ruby Tuesday’s, etc.)
The seminar will not be complex. Each participant will be provoided with a copy of the Claritas Prizm categories and a quick demonstration of Circular Area Profile System (CAPS) in action. This would benefit all in attendance.
This will be a fun seminar and one that provides good insight into many marketing situations, not to mention when people ask: “Why we don’t appeal to all retailers?”
The cost of the breakfast seminar is $5 for members, $8 for nonmembers. RSVP to info@pikechamber.com or 570-296-8700.
