WoodMobile teaches students about the importance of forests

DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — Matthew Boyd and the Pennsylvania WoodMobile recently came to Dingman-Delaware Middle School, where hhe spent the day speaking to Mrs. Favaro’s grade 7 Career and Leadership Students.
The presentation educated the students about invasive species threatening the forests of Pennsylvania. Boyd, a member of the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association, also talked about the many careers and education opportunities in Pennsylvania related to forestry.
The WoodMobile is a traveling exhibit, housed in a 34-foot trailer pulled by a pick-up truck, that provides information on state forest resources and the state forest products industry. It allowed students to see how the forests of Pennsylvania have shaped history. Students were also able to see how products are made, learn how the forest is managed sustainably, and experience how both common and unusual forest products touch our lives every day.
