Writers and readers to mingle at Milford's newest festival
Not content with its grand festivals devoted to music and film, Milford has come up with a new one: the Milford Readers and Writers Festival. Events for the literary-minded will be held all through the coming weekend, right in the borough. It's only natural, since Milford has long provided a home — or a home away from home — for some of the country's greatest writers. Saturday’s headliners at the Milford Theatre include John Berendt, Gloria Steinem, and MK Asante (pictured), and a panel discussion featuring all three authors together. Berendt will speak at 10 a.m., Asante and noon, and Steinem at 2:45 p.m., with the panel discussion to start at 4:30 p.m. There's much more to see (and hear, and read) this weekend, for lovers of sci-fi, nature writing, X-rated fiction, cookbooks, poetry, women's literature, gay literature, and children's books.
