Young artists create 'Artful Bears' to promote film festival

— The Black Bear Film Festival loves getting young people in on the lights, camera, action!
Organizers nurture cinema fandom among young and old alike, so that Milford's pride of place at the center of the film industry in its earliest days continues into the 21st century. Many young people from the area have produced their own films, which have debuted in recent years at the Milford Theatre, where the Black Bear films are screened. The festival has sponsored programs for youth that teach how to turn scripts into films.
And ahead of the festival, scheduled for Oct. 19 to 21 and featuring film star Jane Alexander, young people have been hard at work decorating their own "Artful Bears," who will strike poses throughout Milford Borough to promote this cultural event, which draws hundreds of movie lovers from all over the region. You can see their creations, along with those of "grown-up" artists, this Saturday, Aug. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Community House, 201 Broad St., Milford.
