Marine Corps ‘Toys for Tots' holiday program has come to town

Milford - With the help of ERA 2000 Homes Realty, the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation will be collecting new toys for needy children in our community. New, unwrapped toys may be donated to both of ERA 2000 Homes Realty’s offices at 203 East Harford Street in Milford and at the Hemlock Farms office on Route 739. ERA 2000 Homes Realty will be collecting toys through Dec. 22. The goal of the Toys for Tots program is to “deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.” Together we can make a difference in our community. You may donate individually or gather with your co-workers, family, and friends and collect toys for these needy children. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is an IRS recognized charity and was named Reader’s Digest’s “America’s Best Children’s Charity” and Forbes’ included it on its “Gold Star” list of charities. Over 57 years, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has distributed more than 332.5 million toys to 158.7 million needy children. The Toys for Tots campaign began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. Provide the ages and gender of the children and request that Christmas toys be provided for them.
