MILfORD — Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin has announced that Alfredo Monge, 56, of Matamoras was sentenced on Feb. 13, to seven to 14 years for his convictions stemming from his actions with a 14-year-old boy. Monge pled guilty to the crimes of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault and Corruption of Minors in November of last year in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas. Monge will serve his sentence in a state prison but is currently housed at the Pike County Correctional Facility pending the transfer to a state facility. First Assistant District Attorney Bruce DeSarro, who prosecuted the case, cited the work done by both the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department and the Port Jervis Police Department as being crucial to the successful prosecution of the case. DeSarro stated that the police first became aware of the case when the boy was reported missing. After finding the boy, the minor told the police of the crimes committed by the defendant. The crimes occurred at the defendant’s residence in January and February of last year. President Judge Joseph Kameen also sentenced the Defendant to comply with Pennsylvania’s version of Meghan’s Law upon his eventual release.
