Meet Joseph James ‘J.J.' Romano

MILFORD - J.J. Romano is a retired navy veteran, who was active in World War II, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War. He’s now is active in Knights of Columbus and for twenty years has been a volunteer in American Red Cross Blood drives, and other community activities. J.J. Romano has added the Pike United Way Day of Caring and its 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive to his “things to do” list. When asked why he is taking on one more community project, J.J. said, “A blood donation is giving from the heart. It helps people who need it, when they need it. I couldn’t do anything else”. Look for J.J. His will be the friendly face behind the stack of Pike United Way tee shirts that awaits every volunteer worker or donor who comes to the Fourth Annual 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive on Saturday, Sept. 9, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The place is the Delaware Valley Middle School Gym on U.S. Routes 6/209 near Matamoras.
