Meloi and Szader join United Way board

Milford New Pike County United Way Board members Diane Szader and Alex Meloi attended Port Jervis Middle School together in the early 1980’s. After graduation, both left the Tri-State area to pursue education and careers. This summer, their graduating class held a 20th reunion and a friendship was renewed, with the United Way becoming a shared commitment. Alex Meloi has been a United Way of Pike County Board Member since November of 2007. Alex grew up just across the river in Montague N.J. and graduated from Pope John High School in Sparta N.J. He majored in Fashion Design at Marist College and moved to New York City after graduation to pursue a career on 7th Avenue. Returning home, Alex and his brother Andrew Meloi decided last year to expand the family liquor store into an upscale wine and spirits shop which capitalized on his passion for gourmet food. Alex also works with his family as a Pennsylvania and New York State Realtor at ERA Meloi Realty’s Milford location. Meloi brings to the board a fresh spirit and strong sense of creativity. Meloi joined the board because, “The most worthwhile thing anyone can do in their life is to build something.” Diane Szader has been a United Way of Pike County Board Member since September of 2007. She has served in management and marketing positions in the rental car industry, working in Philadelphia and Wilkes Barre, focusing marketing and advertising. Szader decided to go back to school to obtain her Master’s Degree in Business Education, and taught marketing, law, and web page design. She returned to the area in 2005, obtaining an Assistant Principal position at Wallenpaupack Area Middle School. Now residing in Milford, Szader has become Wallenpaupack’s Middle School Principal. She is working toward her Doctorate in Education at Wilkes University and is thrilled to finally be home. Szader joined the United Way to give back to the community in any way possible. Szader says, “I have worked with the United Way throughout my career, and am excited to support United Way’s efforts through the school and as a Board Member. To be able to serve in Pike County makes it doubly exciting. It’s my home!”
