Milford gets no word from the county
MILFORD Earlier this month the Milford Township Supervisors directed requests to Pike County for somone to appear and detail more information about its recycling and land purchase plans. On Monday evening, Supervisors Chair Don Quick noted twice that no representative had appeared to brief the board about reported efforts to privitize the recycling program or the county’s effort to purchase portions of the Santos Farm property. Quick said it was good that the station is busy, but “the county has to catch up.” He noted that one medivac helicopter landing had been diverted due to fears that the blowing litter would interfere. Tom Hoff of the municipal authority, which handles borough and township water and sewer was on hand to hear what was said about the Santos property. Quick noted that 12 to 18 acres would be required for a sewage treatment facility to serve Harford and Broad streets and the three-lane section of US Route 6/209. Plans would included a spray irrigation or in-ground discharge, rather than releasing to the heavily regulated Delaware River. “These needs need to be addressed above all other. The problem is not going away,” Quick said.
