Murcko seeks fourth term as register/recorder
MILFORD - Lynn A. Murcko has 32 years legal experience and began with Pike County on Feb. 2, 1987. First elected in 1995, she has experienced the growth first hand in the amount of documents recorded, estates filed, and the increase in revenues in both offices. Murcko knows and understands the history of the office and is experienced and knowledgeable on the law and regulations. The Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds serves as an Agent to the Commonwealth in collecting Inheritance Taxes and Realty Transfer Taxes. Murcko is responsible for distributing the revenues each month to the 13 Municipalities, the three school districts, the state and to the county. She is also responsible for the reports submitted to the state each month. The Recorder of Deeds office collected $11,800,000 and the Register of Wills Office collected $2,820,000 for a total of over $14 million dollars in 2006. Murcko enjoys working with people and has served her community in leadership roles in many organizations including the Dingman Township Republican Club, the Council of Republican Women, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Pocono Woodlands Lake Property Owners Association and as an elected member to the Pike County Republican Committee,
