All-Eastern USA Honors Chorus WESTFALL - Adam Blackman, a senior at Delaware Valley High School, Milford, performed with the MENC All-Eastern USA Honors Chorus on March 8-11 at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Conn. Adam was selected as a result of auditions at the PA All-State Chorus festival last April. MENC, (the National Association for Music Education) All-Eastern Honors Ensembles, consisting of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus, and jazz ensemble, are organized by association members. More than 600 of the most musically talented high school students from twelve Mid-Atlantic and New England states have been selected to perform in these ensembles. Each state has a compiled ranked list of juniors and seniors who have been selected to their home all-state festivals. The top students from these all-state lists are eligible for the All-Eastern Honors Ensembles. Selection to the All-Eastern Chorus is the highest honor a high school vocalist can achieve. Adam, a tenor, has been selected to the PA District 10 Chorus and the PA Region V Chorus the past two years and performed with the 2006 PA All-State Chorus last spring in Valley Forge. With assistance from his music teacher, Gordon Pauling, Adam prepared a remarkably challenging musical program and performed with the 350-voice choir under the leadership of prominent conductor Jonathan Talberg of California State University, Long Beach. At Delaware Valley, Adam is a member of the concert choir and chamber choir and has performed in the school’s drama club productions. He is the son of Cliff and Anna Blackman of Matamoras.
