DVHS boys earn All-State music honors WESTFALL — The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association has announced the selection of two Delaware Valley High School music students to perform at the 2009 Pennsylvania All-State Music Festival in Valley Forge. Sophomores Jonathon Fornoff and Jason Sandonato were selected to the All-State Chorus as a result of auditions held last month at Kutztown High School. Jonathon, a baritone, placed second and Jason, a tenor, placed third among students from more than 150 high schools in PA Region V. Students advance to the all-state ensembles through a series of auditions at the district and regional levels, a process that begins each year in October. Selection to the all-state ensembles is the highest state honor a music student can achieve. Jonathon is a member of the high school concert choir and chamber choir, plays bass in the orchestra, performs with the drama club, and sings with his church choir and community music groups. Jonathon is the son of Jeffrey and Diane Fornoff of Milford. Jason sings with the high school concert choir and chamber choir, plays trombone in the high school concert band, jazz band and symphony orchestra, performs with the drama club, sings with community music groups and is cantor and choir member at his church. Jason is the son of Ernest and Diane Sandonato of Milford. Both boys have performed with the Pike/Monroe County Chorus, the PA District 10 Chorus, the PA Region V Chorus, and various other honors ensembles. Jonathon and Jason will join with 200 singers from across Pennsylvania on Apr. 21-25 in Valley Forge under the musical direction of Paul Oakley. Oakley has enjoyed an international career as a performing artist, conductor and teacher. He has performed throughout North America and in England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil and several Caribbean nations. The 2009 Pennsylvania All-State Chorus concert is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 25 at 11 a.m.
