New wheels for Pike EMS

Pike County EMS showed off their new emergency vehicle to the Dingman Township Board of Supervisors earlier this month. The 2006 Dodge Durango was purchased 10 days ago for $24,000. More than $20,000 more was necessary to have the emergency lights, sirens, radio, other special equipment and lettering put on. A custom cabinet to hold supplies and medical equipment was handcrafted by a local carpenter for the new vehicle. It is scheduled to be inspected by the state and be in service by this weekend. A new 2007 emergency ambulance is expected in January. Pike County EMS responded to 132 calls, on average more than two emergency calls per day, during the months of October and November.
