No solutions at library meetings

Milford — A round of Monday meetings left the impasse over funding for the Pike County Library unresolved. The Pike County Commissioners meeting with library officials produced a restatement of the earlier county position; a realignment of the library board, new bylaws, and a continuing threat to withdraw the county’s annual $200,000 in support. Still, the meeting was said to have ended with joint recognition that compromise was needed. Later Monday, the Library Board met and reportedly approved a $629,000 operating budget for 2010, containing scheduled operations cuts of four hours weekly at the main branch in Milford, and eight hours weekly at the Dingman branch. The least patronized library branch, at Lackawaxen, could face closure. It has operated 20 hours weekly, in past.
