PA House hearings on transportation funding crisis
HARRISBURG The PA House Transportation Committee, along with the House Republican and House Democrat Policy Committees, has held two hearings in Center Valley and Philadelphia to focus on several Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regional transportation issues. These hearings are seeking solutions for Pennsylvania’s transportation funding shortfall, caused by the federal rejection of the state’s plan to install tolling on Interstate Highway 80. Hearing speakers all had ideas to fund the repair of the state’s more than 5,600 structurally deficient bridges and more than 7,000 ailing roads. The committee was scheduled to meet Thursday, June 10, at Marywood University, in Scranton, to discuss issues affecting regional PennDOT, District 4..
