Partners for a food drive

Hawley The United Way of Pike County and the Hawley-Lake Wallenpaupack Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting a February food drive. All of the contributions will be donated to local area food pantries. In addition to canned foods, non-perishable food items and paper products, personal items such as toothpaste, bath soap, shampoo and toiletries are also being encouraged. Remember to check the expiration dates prior to donating. “The economy is such a challenge right now and there are so many people facing financial hardship. Many of our friends and neighbors are in need and having to make tough choices. Hunger is a huge problem and is not always visible. By joining the efforts of our organizations, we hope to be able to collect more food and help more people.” said John Gilpin, vice president of the United Way of Pike County and Pike County Treasurer. Donations can be made at any of the following locations in the Hawley area: The Hawley-Lake Wallenpaupack Chamber of Commerce, US Route 6, or Misc. Essentials A Kitchen Shop, US Route 6, Hawley.
