PennDOT meeting for Pond Eddy bridge
Shohola PennDOT has scheduled a public meeting to discuss the proposed plans for the Route 1011, the Pond Eddy bridge replacement project. Known as New York Pennsylvania Joint Bridge #2 over the Delaware River at Pond Eddy, the structure is a single lane, 504-foot bridge built in 1904-05 that links the town of Lumberland, Sullivan County, New York, with Shohola Township, Pike County, Pennsylvania. The meeting will be at the Shohola Township Building, 159 Twin Lakes Road, on Thursday, Apr. 2, at 7 p.m. The purpose is to update the public on the developments of the project and to review the results of the project development report. The report is available for review on the Penn DOT District 4-0 web site, www.neparoads.com . Follow the Roadwork link to Current Projects. The Pond Eddy project link will appear under the green map at the center of the page. PennDOT has determined that the replacement option is the only viable option to provide a river crossing connecting the communities of Lumberland, N.Y. and Pond Eddy. With the replacement option, a Memorandum of Agreement will be created to document commitments to mitigate for the adverse effect. As such, the consulting parties will be instrumental in helping develop the MOA. The draft memorandum will be openly discussed at the next meeting, as will furtherance of a Design Advisory Committee comprised of local representatives that will help provide architectural input related to the DOT’s design of the new bridge.
