Pets in need of homes

Port Jervis - Ligety came to the shelter as a stray. He is a male about two years old. We think Ligety is a labrador mix with some Chow Chow or Akita. He has very thick fur and stands very still to be brushed. He likes eating food out of your hand instead of from the bowl. Ligety is timid and quiet at the shelter and he is good on the leash. He is clean in his cage at the shelter and will be neutered before going to a new home. Bullwinkle is a male orange tabby with white on his face, neck and paws. He is about one or two years old and was found living in someone’s barn. Bullwinkle has nice gold eyes and is using the litter box at the shelter. He will be neutered before going to a new home. If you are interested in Ligety or Bullwinkle, please call or visit the Humane Society of Deerpark/Port Jervis at 202 Rt. 209 North, Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or Sunday 1 to 3 p.m. The shelter is closed Monday.
