Pike builders win statewide award

Milford The Pike County Builders Association has been honored with a statewide award for its exceptional community service work in 2008. The award presented by Field Service Director, Arlene Miller C.A.E. at the Laurel Villa Inn in Milford. “It’s important that we recognize the excellent work being done in our industry,” said 2008 PBA President Ray Fertig. “The Pike County Builders Association stood out among our 40 local associations and chapters for its tremendous service and outreach to the community. We applaud them for their efforts that make their community a better place to live and work.” The PCBA won this year’s Community Service Award, presented annually by PBA. The award recognizes the PCBA’s Recycle Your Old Electronics event Apr. 26 in Hawley. For only $5 per carload for individuals and $25 per carload or truckload for businesses, residents were able to safely dispose of old and unwanted electronic and computer equipment. More than 150 carloads attended, generating more than 24,000 pounds and two tractor-trailers full of recycled equipment in only five hours. In connection with the event, PCBA held a poster contest at Wallenpaupack Elementary School fifth-graders. Nineteen posters were submitted and all on display during the recycling event. All participating students received gift cards donated by PCBA members. PBA’s annual Builders Gala awards honor member companies and local associations leading the industry through their quality of work and professionalism.
