Pike United Way announces awards

    MILFORD - The Pike United Way Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has awarded $90,000 in allocations to help fund twenty-three local human services organizations offering programs in Pike County. A committee of community volunteers spent six weeks reviewing applications for funding in a review process that included proof of non-profit status (501c3), analysis of need, organization operations and financial stability, and dedication to serving all citizens on a non-discriminatory basis. If the program was funded in the past, proof of performance was included as a condition for continued funding. The twenty-three agencies awarded allocations are: American Red Cross - Pike County, Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA, Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission, Catholic Social Services, Center for Developmental Disabilities of Pike County (CDD), Compassionate Friends - Delaware Valley Chapter, Consolidated Training & Services, Inc. - New Visions Clubhouse, Country Ark Farm, Devereux Pocono Center, Genuine Alternatives in Therapy (GAIT), Good Cheer Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity of Pike County, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry, Honesdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., Pike County Advanced Life Support, Pike County Alliance for Prevention Programs, Pike County Developmental Center (PCDC), Pike County Tobacco Free Coalition, Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), Survivors’ Resources, The Salvation Army, Voluntary Action Center of NEPA - Big Brothers Big Sisters Pike Extension and Wayne-Pike Adult Literacy.
