Pike wins river Technical Assistance Grant
NARROWSBURG, N.Y. Pike County received $3,000 for planning as the Upper Delaware Council has awarded $30,000 in Technical Assistance Grants recently. Pike’s grant was awarded to help fund the development of the Matamoras Borough-Westfall Township Regional Comprehensive Plan and an Open Space, Greenways and Recreation Plan under the coordination of the Pike County Office of Community Planning. The planning is to be done over an 18-month period. Technical Assistance Grants are available for research, planning, and studies conducted by the UDC’s eight member New York towns, four Pennsylvania townships, and the encompassing river corridor counties. They can provide seed money for a municipality to embark on a project without having to dip into local tax dollars. The latest grant round brings the cumulative amount to $639,692 that the UDC has given to its member municipalities since 1988. In all, 180 projects have been funded through the Technical Assistance Grants (TAG) program.
