Pipeline work planned

For replacement construction of lines in Pike and Orange counties MATAMORAS — Columbia Gas Transmission will host open houses in Orange County, N.Y., and Pike County to discuss proposed plans to replace and upgrade two gas pipeline segments. The Pennsylvania open house will be held on Wednesday, March 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing, at 120 US Routes 6/209, Matamoras. Representatives from Columbia will be on hand to speak with and answer questions. Potentially impacted landowners have received invitations in the mail, and all affected landowners are invited to attend. Columbia is proposing to replace approximately 17 miles of its existing and connected: Line 1278 (in Pa.) and Line K (in N.Y.), between Weber Road in Dingman and the lines junction with the Millenium Pipeline near Sparrowbush in the Town of Deerpark, N.Y. The line runs north, crossing US Route 6 and Interstate Highway 84 at exit 53 in Milford, and the Delaware River below Cherry Island. A majority of the proposed project will be completed through a ‘lift and lay’ process, in which the existing pipeline will be removed and replaced with a new pipeline in the same right-of-way.
