Police controversy

The Borough Council’s proposed disbandment of Milford’s police and Chief Gary Williams’ loss of position is not sitting well with many residents. “There’s all kinds of crazy rumors going around,” said Borough Council President Matt Osterberg. He said Williams will get his retirement benefits, which have never included paid health insurance, as claimed in a blog comment on pikecountycourier.com. Williams (pictured here), who has declined comment about the borough’s action, on Monday confirmed the health insurance question, but admitted, “I didn’t expect to retire at 57.” The council’s hearing on the police decision will continue on June 2.
